Running a business is a fine art and when a business goes through a growth phase, you might very well feel overwhelmed. And this could be when you start to look at if your processes are fit for purpose.

If you need to remain competitive, you’ve got to be more efficient. And this is especially true if you have limited resources.

But when it comes to gaining efficiencies, it’s about using the right processes and cutting them down to size. What are the best processes that you can take advantage of?

Outsourcing

Businesses can benefit from outsourcing, regardless of its size. There are so many opportunities to outsource your business processes, commonly abbreviated to BPO (Business Process Outsourcing). This is where a BPO company becomes invaluable.

You could use it for your IT support or your marketing. You can use outsourcing to reduce your costs and make your business more efficient. For many small businesses, using outsourcing to complete certain tasks gives you the benefit of reduced costs, but also helps you to investigate new avenues.

Cutting Down on Paper Usage

One of the quickest ways to streamline your business processes is to review your paper usage and consumption. Paperwork increases waiting times if it piles up quickly.

The most important thing you need to do in terms of reducing paper usage is to trace the paper trail and consult employees if the paper copy is actually valuable. Paper copies are not necessary the vast majority of the time, especially if you can upgrade to digital solutions.

When you start to go through the process of digitization, it can be some work upfront, because of the act of scanning documents, but when you start to see how it can organize your business, you will never go back.

Automating Time-Consuming and Repetitive Tasks

If your business has tasks that are performed regularly, how can these tasks be consolidated? The importance of automating many practices, whether it’s through a Customer Relationship Management software package or through streamlining basic admin tasks, it frees up employees to focus on other aspects of the business.

A good example is billing customers. You can automate billing emails so customers are aware of upcoming payment dates.

Reducing Travel Time

If you are expanding into other territories, you may think that face-to-face meetings are essential. If we’ve learned anything from the current climate is that we can do a lot using videoconferencing software. But when we start to look at overcoming technological hurdles, what more can we achieve?

Travel time can be physically and mentally exhausting for someone in charge of a business. But it’s also beneficial in terms of cost-cutting. It’s important for employees to travel to events, but it’s about making sure that you get the balance right. 

Streamlining your business processes will make a significant difference, not just to your finances, but also to your employee well-being, and your business practices. If you feel you’ve never got the time to look at these practices, streamlining the most time-consuming ones will help you see what you’ve been missing out on all this time.
