When it comes to marketing your business, it can get pretty expensive. When a company is in financial hardships, one of the very first things they will do is cut down on cost within their marketing department or will aim to dismantle it entirely. No matter the size of a business, marketing needs to happen. Whether this is free, cheap, or even expensive types of marketing, it just has to happen.
A business can be great and top of the line, but it doesn’t make a difference in the world if the company isn’t out there trying to market itself. Fortunately, there are plenty of low-budget marketing hacks that small businesses and startups can try out. Here are some marketing strategies that may cost you time, but won’t cost you money.
Content creation
Content creation doesn’t necessarily need to be expensive. Sure, there are huge creators and companies out there that have top-of-the-line cameras, microphones, and other equipment for their content. While an audience loves high-quality production, audiences are completely fine with low-quality production too. Just go on YouTube, there are creators with millions of followers, and all they do is sit at their desk and talk into a built-in webcam.
It goes to show it’s the content itself that’s important because that’s where the quality is. You spend a hundred on producing content and still run the risk of it being bad. Everyone has a camera on their phone, a built-in microphone, and even editing software can be free. Content isn’t just videos either, it includes podcasts, eBooks, blog posts, and so much more. These are things that can be made for free or at least incredibly cheap. Content creation also allows you to let your followers know about the digital loyalty programs that your business would be offering.
Host a webinar
Webinars can be free, there are plenty of platforms that allow users to host free webinars, and you can even just use the Live feature on Facebook, Instagram, or even TikTok if you’d like. Free webinars are a great way to introduce you, your brand, and it gives you the chance to reach a wide range of audiences.
Comment on blogs and forums
You most likely already know about lead generation tactics but what about commenting on blogs and forums? This can be a mixed bag, especially with how you plan to market your business. A lot of bloggers absolutely hate it when businesses comment on their blogs as it comes off as spam (and this can really backfire for you). Some blogs completely welcome it, but your comment should be sincere and organic. You do not want your blog comment advertising your business, but you could organically add it in.
The same can be said for forums. Advertising your business directly is something that is spammy, unwelcome, and could get you banned. But if you’re wanting to leave sincere feedback or comments, there could be a way to indirectly advertise your business. Forums, groups, and blogs can be great ways to build a nice support system.
