Business blogs are just as popular as regular newspapers and magazines.

There are now 409 million people who read 20 billion blog pages; every single month. This means that although you have just under half a billion consumers reading blogs on business websites. They are reading a lot of pages each. This shows that far from business blogs being a singular event for a customer, they are read as regularly as any other media outlet.

This level of potential influence should not be wasted or scoffed at. A business that can harness its readers, will boost its sales and increase its loyal customer base. It all begins with a good content plan.

Your approach

Content should not be written off the cuff.

Sometimes it is a good idea but your main midweek content should be planned. An entrepreneur may feel they need to write content every day and have it as part of their morning schedule.

However, you can write a lot of content in a couple of weeks and then release it periodically, to prevent search engines from considering your posts as spam or low quality.

Content plan

This is how you can plan your content, by answering these questions.

  • What kind of audience do you get, i.e. young, old, professional, entrepreneur, affluent, etc?
  • What is the problem you want to solve?
  • Is your product or service right as the solution?
  • How does your product or service compare to other products?
  • How can customers use your products in their everyday life?
  • What trends are bouncing around and can you latch onto them; is your brand relevant to them?
  • Is your content relevant to the season/holiday?

When you can answer these questions, you’ll start to see how you can shape content to fit your brand and marketplace position.

A day for comments

Did you know that 77 million new comments will be made on blogs, just this month? These are real comments made by real people. You have a tremendous opportunity to get in touch with your customers and break down the barrier between consumer and business.

Spend an hour or so, one day in the week, just replying to comments on your blog posts. It can also provide you with free marketing research as you get to know what your customers want and what issues they want to be fixed, improved, or more of.

Work with SEO content companies

Organic customers are customers that have never interacted with your brand but are now paying attention. Working with an SEO content company can massively improve your ability to attract such customers.

Using a remote file access solution, your blog posts and ideas can be swapped to and fro, with the company no matter where you are or what platform you’re using. If you’re on holiday or away on business and only have your mobile at hand, you can access your files from this solution and publish the content at any time.

Create a great content plan and most of the battle will be won. You know what you’re going to write when you will publish it and who it is for. A little bit of extra help from an SEO brand can never go amiss either.
