Last year was a year for the record books. Regardless of industry or place on this planet, 2020 taught us a lot. In fact, our children and grandchildren will ask us about this game-changing year.
There will be volumes of books, studies, and films about the roller-coaster year we just experienced. Well, with a new year and new evolving normal, it’s time to implement business strategies for a successful 2021.
Here are my two cents broken down into three proven strategies for business success post-pandemic.
Efficiency through Automation
Routines, habits, and the old way of doing business is so last century. With enough tools to help run a tighter ship, everything that can be automated should be.
Your payroll, security cameras, and fulfillment can be done easily. For example, with automated packaging you can speed up the delivery of your products. This makes your customers happy transforming them into repeat customers.
Of course, you don’t want to eliminate the personal touches and services that are needed and valued. However, much can be automated, leaving more time for more sales, success, and celebrations.
Remove Distraction and Declutter
With 24/7 news, social media, alerts on our phones, and an endless email inbox, it’s difficult to remove distractions at work and even at home. Try to eliminate distractions by doing one business task at a time. You can set aside a specific hour in the morning and in the afternoon to answer emails. Then, use the rest of the day to focus on one task at a time.
Don’t go back and forth answering an email while talking on the phone and sending a social media update. Multitasking has been rewarded over the years in business, but it isn’t the best practice for business productivity. Also, don’t forget to declutter your workspace.
This means a messy desk doesn’t always mean work is getting done there. Either file papers or throw them away.
Challenge Your Team
One of the best ways to succeed is to always challenge yourself and your team. By doing so, you continually bring your A-game, hone your focus, and spark new ideas.
In fact, you can make the challenges fun with competition between teams and rewards. If everyone is on the same scoreboard, it makes for a great team effort. Building a successful team is no small task. However, a successful team continues to get better and better by taking frequent challenges and finding solutions.
If you are looking for business success in 2021, you have to be ready to embrace change. Typically, change is always perceived as negative, but it is the only thing that is certain. 2020 taught us that the world can change quickly and dramatically.
So the lesson is that your business strategies need to change in order to adapt to this new normal. By adding automation, removing distraction, and accepting challenges, you and your business will be on the right track to a successful year and a long future ahead.
